talk to Brandi who is now - officially! - the proud owner of a succesful vet practice and a beautiful country home in rural Vermont.  Her dream come true.   check

bills  check

taxes   check

cut out fabric for costumes for the upcoming Alice in Wonderland ballet performance...the reason Layla and I are staying in Little Rock through May   check

exercise   check

take Layla to the pool   check

think through what needs to be done in the next 2 days before we leave for Roanoke! and buy our oh-so-charming new home (I have become rather obsessed with describing our new home as "oh-so-charming"....well...because it is!)   check

get Layla bathed   check

and I even got to sit on the balcony in the sun and read the Sunday New York Times...

not bad for one day.

thinking...

...that it's way past time I update my blog banner and sidebars to reflect my current reality. 

Just haven't quite figured out what that reality is...or will be...and so which pictures and other things will best reflect it.

(and then there are the DAYS and DAYS and DAYS of overcoming my technology ignorance trying to figure out how to change it all.)

So Layla and I were watching the grammys, which was pretty boring, so I was kind of fooling around on my computer.  One thing led to another and I found myself googling my second fiance (a story for another day).  We were together when I lived in NYC, his family was in Rye, NY, and he and I lived in Mt. Vernon.  So if he ever did flit across my consciousness I assumed he was still in that area.

Um, turns out no.  He actually lives in - wait for it - VIRGINIA.  Earlysville to be exact.  Two and a half hours from Roanoke.

The world is way too small - and weird - sometimes.

the health care bill

I love lingo

I just love eavesdropping on the "lingo" in different professions.  It can be so funny to the uninitiated.

Like the AT&T guy, trying to resolve our various technology issues this morning, talking to a colleague on the phone:

That was a bad install, dude.  I went through 4 RGs!

I particularly love the "dude" part - especially as this guy was probably pushing 50.

 

this is the time of year in arkansas that I just want to put a gun to my head and pull the trigger...

Today marked the 115th day this year that the temperature was above 90 degrees in Little Rock.

Tying the record for Little Rock.

Therefore, as of tomorrow, when it is forecast to be over 90 again, we will have a new record.

To highlight that milestone let me point out that today is only the 281st day of the year...therefore, 41% of the days so far this year have been over 90.

That's creepy as Layla would say.

Or completely freaking insane as I would say.

Have I mentioned how much I HATE the heat.  Or how insane it makes me????  Especially when it NEVER ENDS?????

And I'm not even going to mention how many days this year have been over an hundred.  Or the fact that it hasn't rained in MONTHS.

I hate this.
